It had been a long busy day at the stables. Students seemed to be twice as bad as ever. Lucy really hadn’t been sure what had gotten into them, but when she was able to retire to her cabin she was more than relieved. She hadn’t stopped by to see Mark today, she was stuck late a few hours at the stables. Spending time cleaning up the mess the kids had caused. They had thoroughly spooked some of the horses and Lucy spent a few hours with each horse making sure they were calm before she set them off into the pasture for grazing in the night. Sometimes she really hated the job, the thing that kept her from quitting was her knowing that most of the time she loved it. She needed her time with the horses; Lucy had originally taken the job planning on moving out and getting her own horse. Eventually she got attached to all the horses and she was planning on working here until either Mark or Jared said otherwise. Lucy was good with horses, she believed she belonged somewhere working with horses, and since these horses she could relate to their backgrounds, she was able to relate to her own as well. She knew how to handle them, and she knew the care and gentleness they required.
Lucy needed to be able to relax. She had wanted to go see Mark today, she had a bad feeling something was going to happen but she wasn’t sure what it was. She didn’t think it would be something good. She wasn’t sure if it had to do with Mark, but it made her want to be with him. She wanted to curl up in his arms and just be safe. She hadn’t ever been safe before, she never felt safe if she was outside Mark’s arms. She knew he wouldn’t let anything happen to her, unless she was away. She had a gut feeling something bad was going to happen. She wasn’t sure if it was just them in general, if he would get rid of her. She didn’t want to lose him, hadn’t she lost enough in her life? Sadly, she knew that first loves usually didn’t last forever. He probably would find somebody better than Lucy. Lucy wasn’t anything special; she forced Mark to move slowly in the relationship, probably slower than he had ever moved before. Surely he would get tired of waiting for her. Every time she thought she was ready for something she found out she surely wasn’t as prepared as she had thoughts of herself.
Lucy was insecure; she knew she could lose Mark. She had had a dilemma in deciding to go see him or not after work. On one case, she had wanted to, she wanted to see him and hold him and hope that they wouldn’t be separated by his stress. She wanted to know that he wasn’t going to tell her that he couldn’t handle her. The other part of her was scared that was what she was going to hear. She decided to just go to the cabin, it was late, and nearly ten o’clock when she finally left the stables, he was probably asleep. She wouldn’t blame him if he was. She decided to go see him in the morning, greet him with a kiss. He couldn’t deny her. Although she had already planned on this, and convinced herself that he wouldn’t tell her off, tell her to go away, part of her feared that was exactly what would happen. She had to convince herself otherwise, but the feeling would not leave. Lucy usually had these types of feelings before her father would beat her or rape her. She didn’t believe Mark had the heart in him to do either of those to her. If he wanted sex he would wait for her, if he beat her, well he just wouldn’t do that. He cared about her, even if not more than a friend, he did care about her. He would never beat her.
Lucy was surprised when she walked into the cabin, she hadn’t thought it that hot outside, but it was. The cabin had a relieving breeze to it, and Lucy realized how badly she needed a shower. She started heading in toward her bedroom. Walking pas the kitchen she forced herself to stop when she thought she stopped a shadow move across the outside window. Lucy’s heart beat faster. She had a hard time catching her breath and as she picked up her pace to walk into the bathroom. She tried to take a few calm breaths but it didn’t help at all. Lucy reached in her phone in her pocket. She rested her thumb on number two; it was Mark’s speed dial. She didn’t press it though, not yet. She picked the phone in her hand. Stripping into nothing she decided to go ahead and take her shower, she took a towel and a change of pajamas with her into the bathroom. Along with her cell phone.
Lucy walked quickly along the hallway. She ran practically. She was scared about the shadow, and she wanted to convince herself that it was simply a tree shadow. She couldn’t, the feeling she had all day combined with the shadow scared her. She was really scared of whatever it was outside. Lucy turned on the shower slowly and listened, the water drowned out any sounds of anything other than her and the water. She could hear her heavy breath as she tried to calm down. She sat down on the toilet and took a few deep breaths. She finally calmed herself down after three minutes of listening to the water pour down the drain. Lucy was scared she would open the shower curtain to find water replaced by blood draining down the shower. She opened the shower cautiously to see that it was in fact water pouring from the shower head. Lucy stepped into the shower. She heard a knock on the door. Lucy jumped, she quickly got out of the shower and got dressed. She had hardly gotten wet so there was nothing to worry about. She left the shower on, she didn’t want the person knowing she was coming. The gut feeling left her scared. Lucy grabbed her cell phone once she was dressed and opened the bathroom door.
Slowly she made her way from the bathroom, crawling along the floor. If somebody were to walk in from one of the bedrooms they would think of Lucy as a freak for what she was doing. Lucy, was just acting scared. She figured her roommates were gone; it was probably one of them at the door. They had left their key in the room and the door was locked. Lucy made it to the door. Sitting up to a squatting position. She slowly got off her heels to glance out the window at who was at the door. She instantly realized it wasn’t a women, no roommate. She stared a little longer until the figure looked at her. Lucy screamed. She got up on her feet and the person at the door beat against it, trying to knock it down. It was her father. Lucy ran into her bedroom, finding her closet she dialed Mark’s speed dial. ”Please answer, please don’t’ be asleep, please answer. Please.” She begged as if Mark could hear her.

Something wasn't right. Mark got that feeling while he was fixing up the fresh sheets on his bed. The dogs were uneasy and had been ever since Mark got home. He hadn't noticed it at first, but then he heard Dippy out in the back yard barking, which wasn't such a big deal since the only other residents on campus were the horses, staff, and students. But the dog wouldn't stop. Then Fleur started doing the same thing. And her bark was much more annoying because of the high pitch of the puppy's voice.
He sighed as he listened tot he dogs barking at whatever it was in the back yard. He just finished dressing his bed when his phone went off. He had it set to vibrate, so the phone started to dance across the end table that sat by his bed. He picked up the iPhone and saw that it was Lucy calling. He smiled and hit the green answer button before putting it to his lips. "Hey." He said gently as he set the last of his pillows on the bed and exited the room.
He wasn't expecting Lucy to call him. It was a very pleasent surprise to be honest. He was usually the one giving the calls and she was usually the one that came and visited him in the office. It was nice, but getting a call from her was nice. He suddenly felt the opposite when he heard something in the background. He wasn't sure what the noise was, but he had a suspicious feeling Lucy wasn't happy about it. "Lucy, is everything alright?"

Lucy clutched her phone, shaking. She sucked in air she hadn’t noticed she had been holding when Mark answered. Lucy tried to speak to him, but she started to cry when her father banged on the door again. ”Mmy..my…my dad.” She stuttered severely and couldn’t stop crying over the phone to Mark. Lucy was scared, she could tell Mark knew something was wrong. Mark was completely right, something was wrong. Her father was here, Lucy would get raped. If he got in the house, he would find her. Her father would look everywhere, Lucy knew it. Some people might say he wanted to make things better, but after years of getting beat and raped, and abused, she didn’t think there was a way for them to make up with each other.
”He’s here.” Lucy was finally able to spit out the words. She took a few deep breaths. ”I’m scared.” She told Mark, so scared. Lucy was shaking and crying and she wanted to just cuddle up in his arms, but she knew she couldn’t leave her cabin. She wanted to run away, just keep running. But going outside would be possibly the stupidest decision she could ever make. So she sat inside on the phone with Mark, she didn’t want to get off the phone with him. She wanted to stay on the phone with him until he was here. Just keeping him on the phone could easily keep her calmer then she’d be without him there. She tried to take deep breaths over the phone.
Lucy felt bad for calling him. She knew how busy he had been, he had probably either been in bed or been getting into bed when she called. Hopefully he would understand that she just really needed him. She couldn’t be by herself. Her father, the man that raped her and beat her, neglected her and put her through hell, the man she through in prison was outside her door. Lucy was panicking as well. She knew he didn’t have to come here, but she hoped he would come. She wanted him to come, she wanted to be in his arms.

He frowned as she just cried into the phone. Something really got her spooked. Really bad. The second she finally got the words out about her father, he cursed in a gruff, angry voice. "Lucy.. just calm down okay?" He said softly, rushing out of his room and down the stairs. Dippy came into the room, looking to Mark as the younger Martin opened the closet door to the coat closet and picked up a shot gun, grabbing the box of bullets that went with it. "I'm coming up there, okay? I want you to keep calm and stay hidden, and if he gets into the house try and find something to defend yourself with." He instructed as he tucked the phone between his ears.
He loaded the gun with shaky hands, keeping her on the phone. "You're going to be okay, Lucy." He said gently as he finished loading the gun. He really did hope that he wouldn't have to use it, But he wouldn't hesitate if he had to. "I promise." He turned to the front door and started for the staff cabins, Dippy deciding he would come to. The dog raced ahead of Mark, barking loudly. Mark tried to keep up, unintentionally hitting the end button on his phone. He cursed and came up on the cabin that Lucy lived in.
Dippy stopped just in front of Mark, growling warningly. Mark aimed the gun. "Sir, obviously no one is at home, and I have to ask you to leave." Mark sounded like his dad in that moment. He wasn't pleased about that, but he hoped it had the same effect that Jared had on people. Mark could look pretty mean when he wanted to. He didn't usually want to because Jared was usually looking pretty mean enough for the both of them really.

Lucy cried silently as Mark kept her on the phone. She heard him shuffle and she bet he was getting ready to come to her. She took a few deep breaths, knowing that Mark would be here soon and that it would all be all right. Mark was a good man, and he would surely take care of Lucy. He wouldn’t let anything horrible happen to her. He said she would be ok. He gave her instructions. She didn’t think her father would be able to get into the house, the doors were locked. Unless he really wanted in and busted a window, but her dad just wanted to rape her. He wouldn’t break and enter, at least she hoped not. Mark seemed panicked, it made Lucy uneasy.
”Mark, thank you.” She told him as he said he was coming. She knew if he was here she would be safe. She was just going to stay safe. Hidden in the closet, her favorite hiding place. She had actually acquired a fear of closets after she came to Willow Brooke, closets reminded of what her past had been. But right now, she knew it was the safest place. She knew that she needed to stay hidden. She could hear her dad yelling at the front door. Lucy come out here. Lucy it’s ok, I just want to talk. Lucy knew she didn’t want to leave the closet. Whatever her dad wanted to talk about, she didn’t want to be part of it.
Lucy noticed that he hung up the phone on her and started to cry. Lucy was all alone now. She rolled herself up in the tightest ball she could get into. She stood up eventually, looking through the closet. She used her phone as a light trying to find something to defend herself in if her father opened the closet door. She found a heavy blunt object, she wasn’t sure exactly what it was but if needed she could drop it on his foot and run out of the closet to get a knife or something.

Daniel was here, he had spent a few weeks finding where Lucy was. He went first to her mother. Now he wanted to talk to Lucy. He had been calling her and leaving voicemails for a few days, trying to talk to her. He just wanted to talk to her. He was a little vengenceful, wanting to get back at her for making him spend his many years in prison. He had had the worst time of his life and didn’t at all want his daughter to get away with it. Daniel looked very bad, his bear had grown out and he had the hobo look. That could possibly be because he had lost absolutely everything he had. His house, his car, everything. There was not a penny to Daniel Stevens’ name and that made him very upset. He definitely did not want to be broke like this, he wanted Lucy to feel guilt. He would not hurt her again, he did not want to be sent back to the hell hole, but he would talk to her.
That is, if she would have answered her phone. But she only answered once or twice then ignored all of his calls. Daniel wasn’t giving up. He had figured that this is where Lucy had been sent. His daughter, to a recuperation center to get right. She worked with horses, she had gotten job here after being a student. She was good with horses the secretary said when he called to confirm she worked here. Now all Daniel wanted was to look his daughter in the eye and let her know what she had done to him. He stood outside in the cold as his daughter peered through the window then quickly ran away. Go figure Daniel had scared the girl. Of course, she had every right to be scared of him.
He waited, yelling through the door. ” Lucy come out here. Lucy it’s ok, I just want to talk.” He tried to coo his daughter out the doors. He would not give up, Daniel would talk to his daughter. He was a little surprised when a young man came up behind him. There was a dog, a Dalmatian. Daniel looked at the dog, he had always had a hate for dogs. He gave the dog a nasty look before returning his eyes to the young man standing in front of him. The man was holding a gun, and he struck fear into Daniel. Daniel did not usually experience fear, so it was a surprise. But between the gun and the sureness in the man’s voice. The man had such a strong confident voice. Causing Daniel to take a step away from him. ”I’m sorry sir. My daughter is in there. She came to the door than ran away. I saw her. I just want to talk to her.” He tried to not seem scared. He tried to be intimidating. He turned back toward the door and knocked again. This man could not physically get him to move until he was able to talk to Lucy.

Mark kept the gun trained on the man steadily as he took a step back from Mark and the dog, which caused him to have to take a step back from the cabin door. "Obviously she isn't in the mood to speak to you if she hasn't let you in." Mark's tone was cold and emotionless as he kept the gun trained on him carefully. It was so tempting to just pull the trigger and shoot the man after all the things he did to Lucy. Mark resisted though and lowered his gun just slightly.
"Either way, Mr. Stevens, you're on private property, which means you're trespassing, and in a manner that is rather disrupting to the peace around here." His tone softened just slightly as he studied the man thoughtfully. He looked scruffy. Like he had just gotten out just about. He had just a few weeks ago actually. When they got students from abusive homes, they got notifications of parents' releases if they were sent to jail like Daniel Stevens.
"I'm going to have to ask you leave, Sir. If Lucy wants to speak with you, then she will." Deep blue eyes watched the man. Mark really didn't want a reason to have to call the sheriff, but he wouldn't hesitate to shoot if Daniel came at him in any way. Dippy never took an eye off of the man. The dalmatian stood rigid and ready to pounce if he had to. Mark knew the dog would if he was threatened in the smallest little bit to.

Daniel knew the man would know who he was. People who knew Lucy knew who Daniel was. Even Lucy’s mother, the two hadn’t spoken in years, and she knew who Daniel was as soon as he had showed up on her doorstep. He bet anybody who was associated in Lucy had been given a description of the man, and what he had done to her. So, Daniel was most likely hated here. He needed to talk to his daughter though. This man was intimidating, but Daniel was a controlling person. He wasn’t the one holding the gun and telling the other what to do. That didn’t as much scare him as aggravate the man. Daniel didn’t like to be told what to do it made him really angry to be so controlled in this situation. He knew unless he did something, the man couldn’t shoot him though. Daniel just spent a few years in prison, he knew the laws by now.
”Son, put down that gun. You know as well as I that you can’t shoot me, I haven’t done anything wrong other than come to see my daughter. I haven’t seen her in a few years, isn’t a father allowed to speak to his daughter once in a blue moon? She won’t answer my phone calls, so I decided to show up, I just want to talk to my daughter. She is my daughter, without me she wouldn’t be here. So I suggest you back off or help me open this door so I can talk to her.” Daniel looked at the man a long while before he knocked on the door again. If he acted as if he wasn’t intimidated, he knew the man couldn’t do anything. He sounded cold mean, and a little bit heartless. Much like how Daniel used to be, and well let’s face it, still was.
He still wanted to talk to his daughter, and whether the man helped him in or not, he would wait here all night waiting to talk to her. She was in fact his fucking daughter and if he wanted to talk to her he could. There was absolutely nothing wrong with a father and daughter having a nice conversation. Even if it did end with her body strung in a dumpster. Even though Daniel had taken many classes, and spent many years in prison paying for his actions, he still did have hate for the girl that had ruined everything he ever had loved in life.

He lowered it a little more, but more of in a way to where he could whip it up really quick should he need to. "That may be the case, but she obviously doesn't want to talk to you, so I have to ask you to leave. Only authorized personnel are allowed into this portion of the camp." He kept cool and calm. It wouldn't do well to lose his cool with this man. Not with a gun in his hand. Although, Mark personally felt like the man should die, that was not his decision to make now, was it?
He looked to Dippy and nudged the dog with his leg to attempt to relax him, but the dog kept his stance, growling slightly. Mark looked back up to Daniel after a moment. "I'm going to, again, have to ask you to leave, Mr. Stevens, and if I have to ask a third time, I will call the sheriff's office and they can remove you from the grounds by force." Mark was in no mood to play games at this moment. Lucy was probably scared out of her wits right now in her closet. He hated that. He just wanted Daniel to go away so that he could go in and make sure Lucy was alright. "I'm sure you're not exactly in the position to get involved with the law again, are you, Sir?" He asked cooly. Mark imagined the last thing Daniel Stevens wanted right now was to get involved with any form of law enforcement right now. After all. He just got out of jail. Going to "talk" to his daughter after being out for only a few weeks.
He had been trying to call Lucy the last few days. That had to have been what that call at the Martin's was about. Why wouldn't she have said something to him about that? Why would she lie to him? She knew he wouldn't have minded helping, and it would have been nice to know. Mark could have been better prepared for this. He was going to make sure that the security cameras - as small a number as there were- were kept on all night for the next few nights. Even if Daniel Stevens left quietly or by the help of the law, Mark had a feeling he might try and hang around the camp or town a little longer.

Daniel took a step toward the man while he lowered his gun a bit. The step was not intimidating, more of a friendly effort to persuade the man into letting Daniel in. Authorized personal, shouldn’t a father be authorized to see their daughter? If only authorized personal was allowed to be on this portion of camp, Daniel would surely make his way to a different part of camp during the day to talk to his daughter. Or he could extend his stay at his motel in town and wait for his daughter to come to town. By then he wouldn’t put it past this man to convince her to get a restraining order against him, making it impossible for the two to talk.
Daniel was a little astound at the man’s next threat. Law enforcement, surely this man had heard Lucy’s story. He knew what Daniel had been and what had happened to him. He knew Daniel would not want to be in law enforcement again. Right now, this is harassment. Daniel knew that, he had read the book in his years in prison. He knew that if he didn’t leave, they could call the police, he could be on trial for harassment then thrown back where he had come from. Only because she had been his victim before and he posed a threat to her, so he could easily be deemed not safe for society. ”Well sir, your right. I rather not be in jail again, so I might as well leave now. But I will talk to my daughter.”
Daniel turned and headed back the way he came. He surely was not going to take a chance being in jail again. He would talk to Lucy whenever he wanted to, he would just continue calling her. He would probably give her a few days before he called again though, let everything settle down again. He was going to talk to his daughter though. He would just stay low for a while before he went to talk to her again. The two of them would talk. Until he was served with papers saying he couldn’t. Daniel turned and walked off campus, walking out of Lucy's life again. For now.

Dippy gave a warning growl as Daniel took a step closer. Mark didn't say anything. He just watched Daniel. He didn't even say anything when he informed her that he would talk to his daughter. He just watched Daniel walk away, having a bad feeling it wouldn't be the last time they would be seeing him. He waited until the man was well within sight. He made a quick call to the office and gave Margret instructions to call the cops if she saw Daniel Stevens still on camp property in thirty minutes.
Once he was done with that he reached into his pocket and pulled out a big ring of keys. He sorted through them for a few moments before he found the key to Lucy's cabin. He unlocked the door and quickly stepped in. "Lucy?" He called gently, looking around the cabin as he closed the door behind himself. He locked it and set the gun down by the door before he carefully made his way to the bedrooms and opened the door that had her name written across the dry erase board.
"Lucy... it's safe to come out now."He said as he poked his head into the bedroom and gently wandered over to the closet. He opened the closet door and looked over Lucy worriedly. "Are you okay?" Concern laced his soft tone as he reached out to her and pulled her close to him, brushing his hand over her cheek to wipe a tear away.

Lucy heard hums of voices outside her cabin, but could not make out the conversation going on. She grabbed the object she had found earlier tight when she heard the door open. She heard Mark’s voice though, she dropped the object on the floor. She tried to calm down, it was over. Mark was here, and she knew he wouldn’t come in if her father was still out there. Mark cared about her. She trusted Mark. Lucy took a few deep, relaxing breaths. She knew she was safe if Mark was here. He would keep her safe. She couldn’t stop herself from crying though, Lucy had been scared, really scared. Her father had brought back so many memories that Lucy had spent forever trying to move past. She really didn’t want to be reminded of all the things he had done to her.
She heard her bedroom door open and she got up off the floor. When the closet door opened she walked into Mark. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and cried silently into his chest for a while. ”Thank you, Mark, I can’t thank you enough for that.” She looked up at him and smiled at him. Her cheeks were stained with tears and she was having a hard time stopping herself from crying. He was so nice though, Lucy knew she needed him. If she didn’t have Mark she wouldn’t be safe. He was the one thing keeping her safe right now. She felt safest wrapped up in his arms. She didn’t want to be away from him.
Lucy just stood there enjoying the silence for a while. She wanted nothing else then to just be there with him. He had rescued her from all the bad things that would have happened if he hadn’t come. To her, everything else was gone and it was just the two of them. She breathed in his scent as she just rested herself in his arms. She really really trusted this man. When she thought she couldn’t trust anybody, she trusted Mark with her life. Mark had done it to, he had earned her trust. He had showed her just how trust worthy he was. She leaned up and kissed his lips softly. She wanted to enjoy this, she wanted to thank him for all that he had done.

He hugged her close and stroked her hair softly in an attempt to sooth her. More so for his own need to make sure she was actually alright. He held her close to him and brushed a soft kiss to her temple. "I'm sorry I hung up on you." He murmured softly, rubbing her back gently. He had never been so scared in his life when he heard her say that her father was on the camp grounds. "And you don't need to thank me. I should have known to put our security cameras on when I got the notification that he was released." He said gently, hugging her close to him.He looked down to her when her lips brushed over his. He gave a soft hum against her lips, cupping the back of her head as he pressed his lips to hers a little more. He didn't want to push her though, which was why he pressed just a little. He was surprised that she was the one to commence the kissing actually. Usually he was the one to give her a kiss. He pulled away though, realizing he shouldn't be kissing her right now. She was fighting back tears, and he was actually shaking. He had gone hunting before, but never had he pointed a gun at someone like that.
"Why didn't you tell me that it was your dad calling? You should have told me, Lucy...We could have avoided all of this." He was a little frustrated with her about it. They most certainly could have avoided this if she had told him. He didn't understand why she didn't say anything. She knew she could trust him, so why wouldn't she say something?

Lucy shook her head at him when he said he was sorry. ”Don’t apologize. I’m happy you came.” She squeezed herself tighter into his arms. All she needed was right here. After this, she trusted him with everything. She knew she could tell him everything. She felt him shaking though. She hadn’t taken into consideration how much it had probably startled him to see her father there. He was physically shaking, and she was holding back tears. ”Let’s sit down.” She said, not giving him a real option. She walked him over to the foot of her bed and sat down. She gave him a little pull for him to sit down beside her. She gave him a kiss on the cheek. She wanted to calm him down, she suddenly felt bad for calling him. She hadn’t meant to thoroughly freak him out. She wanted him to be calm, and her as well.
She gave him another kiss, this time it was a little deeper. She wasn’t scared to kiss him anymore. She felt closer to him. He was safe, she could feel it in her heart. He was somebody she could really trust. He had just proved she could trust him with her life. He seemed mad when he asked about her father calling her. She knew she should have told him, but she was scared that it would upset him. She didn’t want him to get bent out of shape about it, because she hadn’t thought it would be anything. She thought if she just ignored it, it would go away. ”I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. I just didn’t want you to worry about it. You had so much other stuff on your plate.” Lucy’s lip quivered as she unsuccessfully tried to hold back tears.
She leaned into Mark’s shoulder and cried. She felt insanely bad for what she had caused. She had tried to not give him stress and had probably ended up just giving him more stress. Lucy gave him a kiss on the cheek, but knew it wouldn’t make up for what she did. Lucy was a worthless pile of crap. She didn’t deserve anything she had. She cried and she cried hard into Mark. This time she wasn’t crying because of the fear or the memories. She was crying because she knew what she had done and she really felt bad. Why did she do this? Why did she make it hard for anybody to like her, or love her for that matter? Lucy cried into Mark’s shoulder. Lucy didn’t want Mark to leave her. She felt like she had fucked up bad though, he probably would be mad at her for a while. As she kept thinking of it, more tears came.

He smiled weakly and wiped away the trail of tears that were left behind with his thumb. He gave a soft little nod as she suggested they sit. He settled down onto the bed, calming himself down for a moment. He was going to have to raid the liquor cabin at home he was thinking. A glass of whiskey to help calm him down maybe. He looked down to her when he felt the soft brush of her lips against his cheek. He smiled warmly and brushed a kiss over her cheek in return.
He was happy to welcome the kiss she gave him though, and it definitely helped to relax him a little. He cupped her jaw in one of his large, callused hands and urged the kiss a little deeper. Someone seemed intent upon ruining it though. He looked down when he felt a nose nudge at his knee. Dippy. He had nearly forgotten about the dog. He sighed and reached to Dippy, ruffling up his ears for a moment before the dog moved to Lucy and sat up on his hind legs, setting his paws on her thighs as his wet nose nudged against her chin, as if making sure that she was alright.
Oh God, she was crying. What was he supposed to do? He felt like such an ass now. He didn't mean to make her cry. Crying from fear, Mark could handle. When it came to tears he caused he was always at a loss of what to do. "Oh... god, Lucy, don't cry, please. I didn't mean to upset you. I swear." He hugged her close and rubbed her back. He had no clue what to do. Sometimes he really did have to wonder why women had to be so hormonal and cry about the smallest things. Of course, in retrospect, he probably shouldn't have gotten onto her her about her father's calls right now. Right after she spent a bit of time hiding in the closet while Mark had a gun pointed at Daniel Stevens. "I'm sorry, Lucy. I'm not mad with you." He murmured to her as he just held her close and pet his hand over her hair gently. Dippy sat there in front of them, practically giving Mark an accusatory look.
