Lucy easily fell into his hold. She leaned into him. She was very emotional right now, she couldn’t change that, she was scared. She was so emotional right now. So she hoped that she could stop crying, and he was definitely helping. She leaned into him more as Dippy nudged at her. She rubbed her head into Mark’s chest. Turning to look at the dog. ”I’m ok Dippy. Thank you. You’re a brave dog.” She smiled at the dog and gave assurance that she was ok. Patting the bed next to her as to give Dippy permission to hop onto it. Which the dog happy and quick to accept the invitation and hop up on the bed beside Lucy. Lucy played with the dog’s ears, which she thought was the softest part of the dog. Lucy knew the dog had probably been a helping hand to Mark, since she knew how much her father hated dogs. Something Lucy didn’t understand, how could anybody ever hate dogs, one of the most loving creatures she knew.
Lucy was able to calm down with Mark. At least he said he wasn’t mad at her. She looked at him and faked a weak smile. She gave him a kiss on the cheek. ”I’m sorry for not telling you. I would have told you, I just didn’t want to worry you. I figured you had enough on your plate.” Lucy smiled again and this time it was a little more real. She leaned up to him kissing him on the lips again. She was more comfortable kissing him now, he had protected her. He saved her, she trusted him now, and she didn’t think he would do anything to hurt her. If a guy was planning on hurting somebody would they stop somebody else from doing it? Lucy didn’t think that was how it worked. Then he had ran in to comfort her, to help her. Also he was upset about the situation, the evidence said that he wasn’t somebody to hurt anybody. Lucy had never known Mark to be mean.
Lucy wrapped her arms around Mark gently as she kissed him deeper. She knew she really liked him, she trusted him. He was the only man she had ever trusted her whole life. She knew her connection with him was special, in a way that no other man would ever be able to match. Mark was the first man she trusted, and right now the only man she trusted. Even his father, who had worked with her for a few years she didn’t trust. It was Mark that Lucy was able to connect with. Mark who Lucy was sitting on her bed kissing right now. The first man she had ever kissed.

He smiled and hugged her close. He stroked a hand up and down her back slowly, soothingly. Dippy gave a soft, muffled bark in answer to Lucy before he hopped up on the bed and laid his head in her lap. Mark just smiled softly, feeling more at ease with the dog a lot more relaxed. He looked to Lucy, sighing softly as he brushed a kiss over her cheek. "I've hunted about a million times in my life, but this was the first time I ever pointed a gun at someone.." He said weakly, staring at the wall ahead of them. It was true enough. Mark went hunting on a regular basis, but he never intentionally pointed a gun at them with the actual threat of shooting them.
He looked down to her and nodded his head weakly in understanding. "Next time, tell me please, Lucy. I know I have a lot going on, but he could have hurt you." He said softly, stroking her back slowly and soothingly. He didn't like to think about it. He had thought that if Daniel Stevens didn't show up by the end of his first week of freedom that they would never see them. Part of this was his fault for not being more on his toes. "He's going to be back, Lucy. He's not going to leave until he gets the talk he wants." He said calmly as he looked to Lucy for a moment.
He was surprised as she deepened the kiss, but he did not complain. A hand lifted and cupped her face as his lips happily accepted the kiss, returning it in earnest as his hand eased around to grasp a handful of her damp hair. He hummed against her lips softly as he tilted his head slightly.

She squeezed him tight when he told her how he hadn’t pointed a gun at somebody before. She bet it had to be hard, to do something like that. Mark wasn’t somebody to hurt people, he helped and healed. But he never hurt a fly. Lucy knew, if Daniel had posed a real threat to Lucy, Mark would have shot though. She was glad he hadn’t needed to. ”Baby, it’s ok. I’m sorry, I won’t ever make you do that again.” Lucy said it honestly, she didn’t want to put Mark through that again. She wanted him to be calm, she didn’t want to add any more stress onto him and she could tell that was exactly what she had done.
Lucy just nodded as he told her to tell him next time. She know realized how serious it was that few phone calls. She thought if he called again she would just answer and try to talk to him as long as she wasn’t at work. She wouldn’t talk to him at work though, because she was pretty sure she would start to cry if she was talking to him, and she didn’t want to cry in front of her students. Her students were getting away from their pasts that some of them didn’t deserve. She didn’t want to show them how within a few weeks it can come back and be haunting you. She hoped her father wouldn’t come during school hours, but she figured the cameras wouldn’t let him on campus. Markus had probably given them a detailed description, or at least would now. Mark’s next words were true, Lucy knew that. She knew very well that he would be back.
Lucy deepened the kiss even more. She kissed him passionately, she trusted him. She knew she had been moving slow. She had moved really slow along with him. She needed to just relax and let things go. She needed to be happy and just let this relationship work itself out. She knew what she had with Mark was special. It was very special. Although she wasn’t about to rush into having sex with him, she felt comfortable with him. She trusted him, and she had no problem kissing him. She wondered if the way she was acting now was a pleasant surprise for him or not. She pulled away gently. ”Babe, can I sleep over at your cabin tonight? On the couch or something, I just would feel safer knowing you are just in the next room.” Lucy smiled at him softly, hoping he would say yes. She knew she would feel safer if she wasn’t here.

A smile twitched across his lips softly as she deepened the kiss. He happily obliged and accepted it, pressing his lips into hers hungrily. This was a very pleasant surprise. He didn't mind taking things slow with her because he liked Lucy. Not the type of like he had for the other girls he dated. No, Lucy was much different than those girls so he had to treat her in a different manner. He nipped at her lips softly for a moment before he pulled away to answer her. "Yeah. I'll give you my bed and I'll sleep on the couch." He said gently as his hand brushed some of her damp locks back. He wouldn't mind giving up his bed. He did it whenever they had guests. Their couch didn't pull out, but he didn't mind. It was just big enough for Mark to stretch out and sleep on it.
"I have to warn you, me and Dad aren't really much of cooks." He said gently as he slowly stood up. "Why don't you pack some stuff for over night, and I'll order us some pizza? The shop in the shopping strip delivers." He said gently, giving Dippy a nice scratch behind the ear. The pizza shop usually charged a little extra when they had pizza delivered to Willow Brooke, but as long as the kids paid for their deliveries, the shop didn't seem to have an issue with deliveries tot he camp.

Lucy gave him a weak smile as he offered her his bed. She didn’t really know if she wanted to take his bed from him. ”Oh no, you sleep on your bed. I just want to know you’re somewhere close, and I don’t want to be here.” She smiled at him. That was really it. She didn’t want to take his bed away from him or anything. She simply wanted to rest in his house. She didn’t want to be here, because she wasn’t sure if her father would show up again tonight. She wanted to be somewhere else just in case, so she wouldn’t have to worry about it. She knew if she was sleeping just a wall away from Mark she would sleep better tonight. She didn’t like feeling completely alone. Usually she could count on Justice, but she knew even this Justice wouldn’t do any good.
Lucy smiled at his offer. When Lucy was scared or so emotional like she was right now, she wouldn’t usually eat. She wasn’t going to be one to put the Martins out by having them order pizza just because she was over either. ”Oh no, please don’t. I really just want to sleep. I’m not much in the mood to eat tonight.” She told him honestly. She felt like she could talk to him and tell him what was going on. That she could tell him more, open up to him more. She really wasn’t going to eat tonight unless he force fed her. But she hoped he would drop the subject now and just let her move on without eating. She wasn’t a big eater, she didn’t eat much anyway and after the scare she just had, she wasn’t going to eat anything tonight.
Lucy stood up and patted Dippy on the head looking over to Mark. ”Can we just head over to your place before it gets any darker?” She asked him as she moved to her closet and pulled out a bag. She looked for a scrappy pair of jeans and a nice shirt to wear to work for tomorrow and also some essentials like her riding boots and her hat. She went ahead and threw them into her bag while she walked into her bathroom and started getting some stuff out of there. She really just wanted to get out of this place as soon as she could.

He shrugged softly. "I don't mind. Really. I just changed out the sheets, so it's really no big deal." He said, watching her thoughtfully. He really didn't mind. He could survive on the couch for one night. It wouldn't kill him to sleep on the couch one night. She was a guest. She got the bed. That was one of Mark's personal rules.
He frowned when she said not to order anything. He'd just have to fix her a sandwich or something then. Mark made a mean grilled cheese sandwich. And he loved it with tomato soup. What upset him was that she was turning down food and he was willing to bet that she hasn't eaten anything in a while. He wouldn't order a pizza, but she was going to have to eat when he got her home. Even if he had to force feed her. He didn't say anything. He just gave a soft nod.
He sat down on the bed with Dippy, keeping out of her way as she gathered up her things. He gave a soft nod in answer to her question and watched as she gathered up some clothes and things she would need when she gets up tomorrow. He stood up, ordering Dippy down from the bed. The dog did as he was told and wandered out of the room to sit by the cabin door and wait on the two. Mark came out a minute later and retrieved his rifle. He checked to make sure the safety was on and then hung it over his shoulder, using the strap that was attached to it.

Lucy simply shook her head at him while he insisted that she slept in his bed. She wasn’t in a mood to argue with him, or anybody for that matter. She really just wanted to relax and go to sleep, or at least try to go to sleep. Although she was pretty sure she would have nightmares tonight that would wake her up screaming, just like the first few weeks at her mothers and the first few weeks at Willow Brooke. Her father hadn’t come alone; he had also brought many many memories. Memories that Lucy had thought she had escaped. She tried to keep herself calm even when she felt like crying again. Lucy started shaking a little as she went back to her dresser and pulled out some clothes to change into.
She walked into the living room where Mark was. She walked over to him with her right hand shaking uncontrollably. She grabbed onto his arm and held on tight with her left hand. ”Thank you.” She thanked him again, her right hand shaking uncontrollably and her voice weak. She sucked in a breath as she tried to keep herself up right. She was really scared to go outside, but she didn’t want to cry again. She opened the door slowly as she waited, she wanted Mark to lead. She was just really uncomfortable going outside. Especially right now. She didn’t like the dark outside anyway.
”I really thank you for inviting me into your home. I just really don’t feel comfortable there tonight.” She told Mark with a smile. She leaned into him, she didn’t want to leave him. She wanted to keep him right there beside her. She was so thankful he had come tonight. She felt safer with him. She knew she wouldn’t be able to leave her cabin if he hadn’t been standing right there beside her. He gave her strength it seemed. She really liked him so much, and the way he made her feel was magical.

He looked down to her for a moment when she came in and latched herself onto his arm. He turned so that they were face to face and he wrapped his free arm around her. He noticed the tremor in her hand and debated on if he should say anything. He took her hand and gave it a gentle, comforting squeeze. "You're okay now, Lucy." He murmured before brushing a kiss over her knuckles.
He took her bag and slung it over his shoulder with the gun in a chivalrous manner, looking to her with a soft smile. He pulled her close and wrapped an arm around her waist as he unlocked the door. Dippy went out ahead of them before Mark stepped out, leading Lucy along with him. He stayed on the alert even though Dippy was much more calm now. That bad feeling he had earlier just wasn't done for some reason. It was still there. Probably because a part of Mark knew that today wouldn't be the one and only time he would be seeing Daniel Stevens. He didn't say anything though, just for the sake of Lucy. Getting her all worried up wouldn't do any of them any good.
Right now they both just needed a little food in his stomach, and some sleep.

Lucy felt calmer after Mark reassured her she was ok. She didn’t know this would have such an effect on her, but it did now and she needed to just calm down. Lucy held onto Mark’s hand for a long while before she took in a long gasp of air. She just wanted to get into bed and take a nice long nap. She really didn’t feel like eating and had no intention to. She figured as soon as she got to the cabins she would change into her pajamas and then lay down. She would insist that it was fine if she slept on the couch. She really didn’t want to put Mark into an uncomfortable position. He had already done so much for her and she didn’t want to ask for anything else. She just wanted to curl up with a warm blanket and try to get some sleep. She hoped Jared wouldn’t mine his employee sleeping over in his son’s cabin.
Lucy stepped out, and she watched Dippy. She knew the dog would be alert if it found something wrong. Dippy was relaxed though, and so Lucy attempted to relax as soon. She just kept herself close to Mark. Lucy held onto him, feeling herself walk faster as she clutched her bag. She just really wanted to be in the safety of the cabin. She wanted to sit next to Mark and just relax in his arms before heading to bed and falling asleep. Lucy held onto him tight as they got closer to his house, to safety. She watched Dippy as the dog ran up the steps of the cabin.
”Mark, I really am thankful for what you have done for me. It means so much to me.” Lucy got up on her toes and gave Mark another kiss on the cheek. She just wanted him to know how grateful she was. He was a great to her and she appreciated him so much. It was as if an angel had kissed her soul when it had landed Mark in her life.

He watched as Dippy easily ran up the front steps to the front porch of the Martin's log cabin. He looked to Lucy, smiling faintly as her lips brushed across his cheek. He held her close and brushed a soft kiss over her forehead. " I don't mind. It's fun playing the knight in shining armor." He said softly as he ran a hand through her hair and brushed another soft kiss over her forehead before he led her up the stairs. He pulled out his keys and unlocked the front door, letting her into the house. He locked the door behind them just for safe measure before he moved tot he coat closet and unloaded the gun, putting the unused shots in the box of bullets. He set the gun in a corner of the closet, and the box of bullets on the shelf at the top before he closed the closet door.
He looked down when he felt something tug at his shoe. He chuckled when he saw Fleur happily gnawing on his laces. He stooped down and scooped the puppy up, giving her floppy ears a little ruffle as he looked up to Lucy, smiling warmly. The puppy probably wouldn't sleep with Lucy tonight, but Dippy was. Fleur would sleep with Jared. She seemed to form an attachment to Jared, which Mark didn't mind because that had sort of been the point to Mark getting her.
He looked to Lucy with a grin and set the puppy back down so that she could investigate Lucy. "I can fix us some sandwiches while you play with the puppy for a few minutes." He offered gently, playfully nudging his foot at the puppy for a moment before he slipped his shoes off his bare feet. He hadn't bothered putting on socks. He had been in too much of a hurry to get to Lucy to worry about socks.

Lucy followed him into the house and slipped off her shoes. She had just brought some sandals with her to his house. She had her work boots in her bag that way she could easily get dressed in the morning without having to get to her cabin alone again. She much rather just get ready here and then head out to work with Mark. She knew she was being a little clingy, but she hoped he wouldn’t mind that she wanted to just feel safe, and she felt safe around him. Mark was like an anchor in the havoc her mind was going through. She felt like she could trust him and as if he was the only person in the world worth trusting.
She shook her head at him while he said he would make sandwiches. ”No, why don’t you make yourself a sandwich. I really am not hungry at all.” She looked at the puppy and rubbed it’s head. Fluer rolled to her belly and Lucy took advantage of the opportunity to pet the puppy’s belly. She hadn’t gotten over how small the pup was compared to Dippy. It had such a great personality as well, and Lucy was absolutely in love with the dog. Of course, it caused her to only want one of her own even more. But she didn’t think she could handle one yet, not quite yet. She figured maybe later if she could get her roommates to be onboard with the idea as well she would invest in a puppy and get a dog that would make her a good companion.
Lucy sat down on the floor and played with the two dogs. She hoped she wouldn’t wake up Jared, although she wasn’t sure he was asleep. He could be out for a ride, or at the office working extra. Lucy just knew that she would probably wake up screaming tonight, and she hoped that she wouldn’t wake them up. She was starting to second guess her option of staying here tonight. She thought maybe she wouldn’t wake up screaming if she was able to calm herself and just stay calm tonight. Lucy knew she really needed some rest. She stood up and grabbed her bag as she made her way to the bathroom to get changed into her clothes.

He pressed a soft kiss to the cheek before she started for the upstairs bathroom. He watched her go upstairs for a moment to go change or do whatever she was going to do. He looked down to Fleur with a smirk. "She's going to eat." He said, looking over the happy pup. She gave a soft little woof in answer as if to contest him. He chuckled and used his foot to force her onto her back. The puppy gave way and rolled onto his back, gently gnawing on his big toe. Mark chuckled and left the puppy to her antics with a squeaky toy while he fixed some soup and two grilled cheese sandwiches. One for himself and one for Lucy.
He fixed up a couple of bowls and the sandwiches and carried it up on a plastic tv and/or bed tray. He walked into his room and set the food on one of the bedside tables before he fixed up the bed. Adding a few pillows for her. He wasn't sure how she slept, but he knew she probably wouldn't be appreciative of the ceiling fan and the AC on full blast. He turned the AC unit down to a more normal level and put the fan on low. He was rather warm natured when it came to sleeping so he usually had the AC going when he slept.
He looked through his closet for an extra blanket to leave on the foot of the bed. He was going through his closet when he came to an old quilt. It had been Willow's. He looked over the fabric thoughtfully for a moment, fingering some of the rattier looking places. His great grandmother, Willow's grandmother, made it when she was older. He remembered vaguely of his mother saying that she remembered articles of fabric that had been a dress of her grandmother's or from a shirt of her grandfather's. He smiled weakly as he fingered a hole for a moment, thinking maybe he should find someone who could patch it up a little.
He remembered, in the wintertime, Willow would tuck him into the bed with this quilt and his flannel sheets after she read some wacky Cat in the Hat book to him. He cherished memories like that because he had so few of Willow. He was only seven when she died. He never really got to know her, and Jared spoke so little of her. For obvious reasons of course, but still, Mark would have liked to know her a little better.
He looked up from the blanket and out the window for a moment, visualizing snow fluttering to the roof that sat just below the window and his mother, reading Green Eggs and Ham to a much younger Markus, who was laying against his mother, looking at the pictures and playing with her hair as he listened to his soothing voice. He snapped back to the here and now before he carefully folded the quilt back up and just as carefully set it on the top shelf of his closet, reaching for a blanket to set on the foot of the bed for Lucy.

Lucy smiled at him as he gave her a soft kiss on the cheek and ran upstairs. She found the bathroom easily and pulled her bag onto the counter to look for pajamas. She had packed them last so they were on top of her bag. She had just packed a pair of flannel pajama pants with a plain oversized t-shirt for her to wear. She pulled off the clothes she had been wearing and slipped into her pajamas. She leaned against the counter for a while as her eyes didn’t keep in the tears that wanted to come out so badly. She let a gentle stream of tears climb down her cheeks as she looked at herself in the mirror.
Lucy couldn’t get her father off her mind. She knew that she needed to just get some sleep, but she so just wanted to sit on the toilet and cry here for a few hours or at least until Mark came looking for her. Lucy knew she needed sleep though, she thought she probably would take the offer of sleeping in his bed. Maybe smelling him, smelling the smell that comforted her when he had his arms wrapped around her, would help her relax and get a better nights rest tonight. She wouldn’t oppose to sleeping on the couch, she just figured sleeping in his bed would make it less likely for her to wake up screaming tonight.
After a few minutes Lucy was able to compose herself. She took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door, bringing her bag with her. Being in the cabin before, she had noticed where his bedroom was. She planned on just dropping her bag in there then going to look for him. As she wandered down the stairs and found him in the bedroom she smiled. She dropped her bag by the door and walked over to her man. Wrapping her arms around his neck she leaned up and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips. She didn’t want to distract him or anything. ”Hmm babe.” She wasn’t sure where she was going with this, she just wanted to say it.
Lucy sat back on the bed and pulled him down with her. She leaned down laying down the bed with her legs hanging off with him on top of her. Weirdly enough, this didn’t bother her today. She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a more passionate kiss this time. She wasn’t about to hop in his pants, but she did really enjoy his presence. She wasn’t bothered by him being on top of her. She wasn’t bothered with this at all, he was her safety net. He saved her from her father, and she trusted him now. She trusted him a lot.

He was pulled out of his gloomy thoughts when he felt her wrap her arms around him. He smiled and wrapped his own arms around her waist, pulling her close to him. "Very sexy, Lucy." He teased playfully as he fingered the over sized shirt and looked back down to her with a soft grin. Actually, it was more of cute and very matronly, but he wouldn't complain. It was pajamas. Not all women wore skimpy silk and lace nighties. Some wore exactly what she was wearing.
He pressed his lips to hers as he lowered himself to his bed, laying on top of her. She didn't seem to complain, but if she didn't like it, she knew that all she had to do was say so. He gently tucked a hand under her back, resting it on a hip. He gave a soft hum as he tilted his face to the side, ever so slightly and nipped at her lips playfully. When he realized what he was doing and where they were he pulled away though and looked to Lucy, afraid that she might get the wrong idea. He didn't get off her though. Not entirely anyways. He tilted himself over a little and propped himself on an elbow so that he wouldn't crush her to death.
She was vulnerable right now, and taking advantage of that was the last thing in the world he would do. He studied her for a moment, smiling softly as he stroked a thumb along her cheek bone. Her eyes were still a little red and puffy from the crying, but she looked better. "I fixed us some grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup." He said gently as his hand thoughtlessly played with her dark hair slowly.

Lucy smiled as he came down on top of her. She just wanted to be close to him right now. She wasn’t exactly sure what she was doing. Lying in bed with him on top of her, but she did like it. He comforted her and she never wanted to lose him. Lucy wanted to keep him close to her. She needed to keep him close, for he was all she had left in this world. Early that week she had been crying in a room about whether to make things right with her father, but she knew not to today. She would definitely not make things right with Daniel. She had Mark, and he was all that she needed. Lucy didn’t want to let him get away from her. Mark never hurt her, and she just couldn’t get over that. He made her feel something she hadn’t ever felt before.
As he pulled away she brushed her lips over his cheek. She didn’t like the sound of a grilled cheese. She didn’t like the sound of food. She really just wanted to fall asleep and try to get rid of this nightmare of tonight. ”Mark hun, I’m really not hungry at all. Really, I just want to go to sleep.” She gave him a promising look. Lucy wasn’t sure why, but she wanted more from Mark tonight. She probably wanted sex, but she wasn’t sure what it was. She just wanted him to know that she trusted him. She wondered if it was really her or if it was just her being desperate. She needed to feel loved, after tonight, she knew what her and her father had wasn’t love. But Lucy’s question was what is love. If what she had been told for fifteen years wasn’t love, then what was love.
Lucy pulled away from Mark playfully. She wandered up his bed and pulled up the blankets to duck underneath them. She hid underneath the blankets. The bed smelt like him, something that would hopefully keep away the dreams tonight. She knew the thoughts only went away from her head when she was right there with Mark, close to him so she could feel his pulse through his arms around her. That’s when the thoughts truly went away from her head. The bed was cold under the blanket and sheet, something Lucy wasn’t used to. It was refreshing, but Lucy didn’t like a cold bed. She went to sleep when she felt warm, so she had a feeling that it would be a while till she fell asleep tonight.
