I was thinking... If Angie picks a 'MotM' she might be tempted not to pick herself for it, even if she might deserve it in the opinion of others. If it's based on post count it could favor quantity over quality. (No Venus, I don't mean Lucy. Only speaking on general priciples, as things might change with new members or the end of summer vacation, etc.) Voting doesn't strike me as a particularly good idea.
But... What about a completely random selection from the members who have decided to stay after an activity check? Member Of The Month might not be a fitting title if it's based on a random draw, but we could change it to "Member Spotlight". I think that would sound about right, and it would have two (possible) advantages in my opinion:
1 - Everyone stands a chance of seeing their name in the spotlight, and 2 - it might draw the attention of newcomers to someone who isn't all that actively involved in the site in some cases, which could stimulate further involvement down the line.

Hey the only problem I see with this, is if it is completely at random, members could potentially get it two months in a row. So I would suggest once you get it, you can't get it the next month, maybe the next few months (like two) then you are put back into the drawing.

Well, I assume right now made a conscious decision about who becomes Member of the Month. Correct?
How about instead making a random draw from all members left after an activity check?
I think it might be motivational for members who aren't all that active here if they see their name up in the spotlight once in a while, which should happen sooner or later with a random draw.
