He was a little off put by that comment, but he did his best not to show that particular emotion. Mark was very good at hiding his emotions when he meant to, and this was one of those moments. He just nodded his head gently and unwrapped his arms from her to give her a little space. It was off putting because Mark loved to snuggle. When he was little, Willow usually had to put a pillow in his arms to keep him asleep when she would lay in bed with him at night. Mark smiled faintly at those memories for a moment before he focused back on Lucy. He just gave a gentle nod in understanding. He really did understand. It was just a little off putting for him. He sat up slowly, pulling her up with him. He resituated himself into a comfortable position and pulled her close to him.
"Well then, I know you don't mind sitting in my lap." He gave her a playful grin as he pulled her close and draped her legs over his lap. He chuckled as Dippy saw the open space on the couch and decided he wanted to join the love birds. He gave a soft huff as he laid his head on one of Lucy's leg's. Mark gave a little smile and stroked a hand over the dog's head for a moment. He looked down when he heard Fleur gave a little yip. He grinned and picked the puppy up, setting her in Lucy's lap. He watched the puppy thoughtfully for a moment as Fleur plopped herself down in Lucy's lap to nap close to Dippy. Mark smiled and stroked a hand along her back slowly as he thought about the last couple of days with the new pup. She seemed to take a very large liking to Jared.
Mark found that amusing since Jared thought she would take more of a liking to Mark. She never left Dippy alone though. If Dippy was on the move, so was Fleur. The only time she was curled up with the older dog was when they all got ready for bed for the night. Usually she went to sleep with Jared while Dippy shared Mark's bed. That was probably the only time Fleur wasn't bugging Dippy.

She smiled at him as he sat up. He was so understanding. She knew she was probably being a bit pathetic, but he was still so willing to do whatever it took to make her comfortable. She really liked the feeling of him caring about her so much. He always made sure she was comfortable. She was more than willing to curl up in his arms as he sat up and pulled her into him. She loved being wrapped up in his arms. ”No, I have no objection to being in your lap, I enjoy it.” When he pulled her in and rested his head on her legs she smiled. The dogs were instantly up and wanting to be with the couple on the couch. Lucy welcomed the puppy into her lap as Mark set her in there. She patted the puppy on the tummy as it begged for more attention.
Lucy wanted to thank Mark though. Someway she knew she could thank him. She pulled his face up close to his. She stroked his chin softly as she looked at him with a smile. Pulling him in just a little closer before she kissed him. It wasn’t as soft as the kiss in the diner had been, this one was just a little more firm. She wanted to kiss him, and she didn’t really care if he were to pull her a little further into the kiss. The two were alone, and although that did scare her, she trusted him. She trusted him a lot more than she trusted most people, so she felt like she could trust him enough to kiss. If he pulled her in a little more she wouldn’t object as long as he didn’t pull her in too much. In fact, Lucy pushed herself a little bit further into the kiss.
As she pushed further she felt her phone start to vibrate. Then the lyrics of one of her favorite songs Hey, Soul Sister by Train started going off. Lucy pulled away and blushed as she smiled at Mark and attempted to fish her phone out of her pocket. Finally she pulled the phone out to see a number she was not happy to see. She cursed under her breath as she ignored the call. She knew the number, she hadn’t bothered to add it into her phone figuring her dad would have stopped calling after the first time she hung up on him. Yet, he continued to call her. Lucy hoped Mark wouldn’t ask who it was, but her face became tense and she wanted to get up and leave or just pull herself more into his arms. She just really didn’t want to have to look at him.

He smiled and laid his cheek on her shoulder, closing his eyes gently. This felt right. There was something nice and comfortable about how this felt.Cuddled up on the couch with his girlfriend and the dogs. This felt so right. He sighed contently pulling her a little closer. " Well then that's one thing you and I have in common, because I enjoy having you sit on my lap." He said gently, nuzzling her shoulder affectionately.
What caught him by surprise was what she did next. He met her gaze as her hand laid over her face. His lips lifted in a soft smile before they connected with hers. Nothing too hard or pushy. Just a soft brush of lips. She was a little more firm this time than at the dinner a few nights ago, which wans't a bad thing. If anything it only means that she trusted him more. He lifted his hand, gently skimming it into her hair to cup the back of her head as he pressed a little harder, welcoming the soft feel of her lips against his. He let out a soft little grunt as he shifted, being mindful of the dogs.
He heard it, but it didn't register until she pulled away. Her phone was ringing. He smiled warmly and and stroked a hand over her cheek for a moment before he shifted, giving her her space if she needed it. He watched as she fished her phone out and looked to it. He didn't miss the face she made though. He noticed that she tensed up to. He studied her, a hand stroking through her hair. "Who was that?" He asked gently, studying her worriedly. Based off her reaction, he was thinking that it was someone she didn't want to be getting calls from.

Lucy was happy when he kissed back. She remembered the feeling she had last time after she pulled away, regret. She wasn’t going to regret it this time. He pushed in just a little more, and she recognized how little it was. How much it really was just a sweet kiss, he shifted and she turned just a little more toward him. She didn’t want to pull away but cruel fate hated her and her phone rang. So, she pulled away. She felt him looking at her. She hated him looking at her, she wished she could act like nothing was wrong so when he looked at her he wouldn’t see the expression she was showing now. But, she couldn’t hide it.
She looked back up at him with a fake smile. She hoped it didn’t look as fake as it felt. ”Oh hun, it’s nobody. Just a collector.” She hoped he wouldn’t catch her in this lie. Although, it wouldn’t be hard. Lucy had lived most of her life here. The only bills she had was shoes and clothes and that type of stuff. Sometimes food if she felt like going into town and getting something, but her room and board were paid for because she worked here. It wouldn’t have been to hard, but she truly wished he would let it go, but she didn’t want to break their trust either. She just hardly wanted to tell him it had been daddy calling her, off and on he would call. Sometimes five times in a row, sometimes only once. He called and she never answered because answering him would be inviting him into her life again, and she wasn’t sure she could do that.
Lucy bit her lip as she leaned into him. Suddenly feeling much more tired than she had before. She didn’t want to walk home alone, but she wasn’t going to take Mark with her. He was just as tired as her. She nudged her head into Mark’s neck as she wrapped her arms around him. She just wanted it all to go away, she had thought she had escaped and now her past was catching up to her. Her past was going to haunt her. She held onto Mark tight, this was her present. Mark was right now. He was what she wanted and needed right now.

He frowned in concern when she said that it was a collector. That expression didn't seem like something he would see when someone was getting a call from a collector. It looked more like she was being hassled by someone she didn't want to talk to. He didn't say anything though . He just stroked her hair softly. "If you need some help with money, I can talk to dad about giving you an advance on your pay check." He said gently, studying her. He was sure Jared wouldn't mind giving her the advance, but Mark would rather check with his dad first. He wasn't retired just yet. And he was genuinely concerned about any money situation she might have.
He studied her for a moment and pulled her close as she burrowed into her. He brushed a soft kiss over her forehead, closing his eyes tiredly. He was tired, and this felt good. Curled up on the couch with Lucy and the dogs. Something had her scared, and he wasn't sure he liked that. He kissed the top of her head and pet it softly, trying to comfort her. He didn't say anything though. He just did the best he could to comfort her. He would have asked who it was again, but he had a feeling that he would get a similar answer to the one before.
Dippy seemed to sense Lucy's unease and snuggled up closer to her and Fleur, who was happily curled up in Lucy's lap. Mark smiled as he watched one of the tiny paws twitch.

Lucy smiled at Mark’s offer. She didn’t really need any money. Lucy didn’t use any money on anything. If she was planning on going on a shopping trip, she just saved up a few paychecks. She was really good at not spending money since she didn’t have to pay bills or anything. She simply just wouldn’t spend money if she was planning on a shopping spree. She never had those little splurges on herself. ”No no, it’s fine hun. I really don’t need any money. I have it handled.” She smiled at him, even with a lie he was sweet. He cared about her, he didn’t want her broke or anything. She knew he would go through a lot of hoops for her, it made her feel safe, secure. When she was with him, she was safe and secure and nothing bad was ever going to happen with them. She felt like he was a best friend of hers, even being her boyfriend, he was still a best friend.
She snuggled close to him and Dippy made his way closer to her as well. She had a connection with animals, and she felt as if they knew she was distraught. She was at unease and the animals had sympathy for her. But all Lucy could think about was being in Markus’s arms. She felt comfortable here, like nothing bad could get to her. She felt like she was in a way invincible. Mark was protecting her from the outside world. She wasn’t sure exactly what she felt toward him, she didn’t know how strong her feelings where, she just knew she really liked being in his arms. Even if she wasn’t ready to take it to the next level, she did really enjoy being with him. Being so close to him that she felt like nothing could get to him. She felt like God wanted the two to be best friends.
Even as much as she loved it though, she knew Mark was tired. ”Sweety, you seem awfully tired. I think I should go and just allow you to catch up on some sleep.” She smiled at him, but she didn’t make any attempt to move away from his arms. She stayed wrapped up in his arms. Not wanting to leave, but knowing he needed sleep. She also didn’t want to take a chance of her father calling again while she was with Mark. That would surely raise his suspicions if the same person called twice in a row.

He gave a soft little moan and nuzzled his face into her neck softly. "I'm fine." He mumbled tiredly as she pulled her closer, squeezing her close to him. He felt a small wet nose brush against his arm and a weak smile twitched across his lips. He reached his free hand to the puppy and gave her a good scratching behind the ear. His eyes fluttered open as he looked to Fleur then to Lucy. "I want you to stay." He murmured softly as his eyes fluttered shut once again.
He was fighting to stay awake. He really was. He was just so tired. He wanted her to stay though. It was an ongoing battle at the moment, but the sleep deprivation was starting to win out. His eyes drooped tiredly for a moment, a yawn escaping his lips. He sighed tiredly as he began to drift to sleep, his head resting more and more on her shoulder as they snuggled there on the couch. After a couple of minutes, Mark was snoring as he laid there, leaned up against Lucy, sound asleep.
Dippy lifted his head, tilting it to the side at the noise of his master's snoring before he laid his head back down in Lucy's lap. Fleur quirked her own small head to the side at the new noise. Then she looked up to Lucy as if looking for some sort of explanation.

Lucy smiled as he told her to stay. She would stay if he really wanted her to stay. She wasn’t about to get up and leave as he pulled her in closer. She gave him a small kiss on his forehead. He looked so cute nuzzling into her, getting closer and closer. Lucy wouldn’t object to this. It was sweet and innocent, but not too much. She played with his hair in her hands; his hair was actually pretty soft. She figured it didn’t get much dirt or anything in it working in an office. Lucy really really liked this man. He was sweet and stunning and just absolutely perfect. She brushed her lips over his cheek as he started to snore.
She tried to pull away from him. He wasn’t giving her up, he’d have to wake up eventually Lucy decided. Probably Jared would get home and see the two and wake up his son, Mark would scurry off to his bed and Lucy would walk home to find her own bed. She wanted to hang out with the lad though, and she just didn’t have the heart to wake him up. She really enjoyed the boy. She enjoyed his company, and she knew just how tired he must be. She would let him sleep until she found it time for her to leave. Then she would leave and let him sleep in his own bed comfortably. She hoped Jared wouldn’t walk in to soon. She wanted to just enjoy the moment with him.
Lucy nuzzled herself a little further into his arms. It was good to just relax. She felt comfortable around him, and with him sleeping, there was nothing for her to fear. Nothing for her to be nervous about. She was just with the guy she liked, being held in his arms. That was all there was too this.
